Privacy Policy — MathQuest Kids

MathQuest Kids is designed for families and children ages 3–12. This policy explains exactly what data the app handles.
By default, nothing leaves the device
- No ads, no ad SDKs, no third-party analytics or trackers.
- No account is required to play. Kid profiles — a name and a 4-digit PIN chosen by a parent — are stored only on the device, in local app storage. They are never transmitted anywhere.
- Progress data (scores, stars, medals, streaks) is stored the same way, locally only, unless a parent turns on cloud sync as described below.
Device backup is switched off for this app, so local data is not copied to Google Drive or transferred to another phone.
Optional features a parent must turn on
These are reachable only through the Parents' Area.
Adult verification. Before any step that involves an email address or password, the app asks for a year of birth and continues only if it indicates an adult. That year is compared on the device and is never stored or transmitted. A separate, lighter check — a multiplication question — can be used to keep younger children out of the settings screen. It is a convenience and a parent can switch it off for a family whose child has their own device.
- Cloud sync. If a parent signs in with an email and password, the email and password are handled by Firebase Authentication, and the child's progress figures (questions answered, questions correct, stars, medals) are stored on Google Firebase so progress can be restored on another device. The child's name, PIN, and activity history are not sent. This is off unless a parent explicitly signs in.
What we never collect
We do not collect location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera data, or advertising identifiers. We do not collect any data from children directly, and we do not sell or share data with third parties for advertising.
Reading aloud
The app reads questions aloud, and the speaker is the device's own voice engine — the same one that reads messages and other apps. MathQuest Kids ships no voice of its own and does not choose which engine the device uses.
What is handed to that engine is only the text of the question — the sum or problem being asked, identical for everyone at that level. The player's name is never spoken, and no progress, profile or account information is sent to the voice engine.
Some Android voice engines fetch voices over the internet. That is a device setting, made in Android's own settings, and it applies to every app that speaks. Turning the voice off in the app's settings ends any use of the engine.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app deletes all locally stored data immediately. To delete a cloud-sync account and everything stored with it, write to the address below.
